Your First Wood-Burning Project

Create a complete beginner pyrography design you can burn for real.

Test every setting on a scrap edge first.

Technique

Choose your subject

Nature, animals, flowers, geometric, wildlife, decorative or something of your own.

Demonstrate every skill

Line control, curves, shading, texture, at least one tip technique, and a clear range of light and dark values.

Then take it to wood

Set the finished size, template size, line darkness and transfer opacity, print it and burn it for real.

A composition that fills the board with breathing room at the edges, and a value range from bare wood to deep char.

1.Burn your final design inside the composition frame.
2.Check values from a distance, then deepen the focal point.
3.Print at your finished size with a faint transfer opacity and burn it on real wood.

The practice board loads as a reference overlay on the wood canvas — set the wood, tip and heat above, then burn over the faint guides.
